What are The Chakras?
What exactly are Chakras? How do they function? Why are they important to us? How can they be worked on?
Let me start by saying that according to yoga, we are composed of 5 different bodies: physical body, mental body, emotional body, energetic body and spiritual body.
Simply put, a chakra, is a vortex of increased energy. As a center of energy, a charka can exist anywhere in the body and it serves as a transformer that moves energy between these various bodies.
Of the 88,000 chakras within the subtle human body, only SEVEN are considered of main importance and are referred to as the “major chakras”. These seven major chakras go from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Each chakra is responsible for the health of the organs, glands and systems of the particular region where it is located, and also responsible for certain emotional states, mental characteristics and personality traits.
When we practice yoga asanas (the postures) with breath awareness and meditation techniques, not only we get to strengthen and rejuvenate muscles, bones, nerves and organs, but also, we are in fact, activating the chakra system.
From beginning to advanced levels of VeroYoga classes you will work every one of the 7 chakras and experience their significance in your life!
