CHAKRAS  are our energy centers that act like receivers and transformers of the various forms of  “prana”. This a complex energy system that is at work within us,  and which the body could not exist without.

Traditional writings say there are 88,000 chakras in the human body. Most are extremely small and play a minor role in our energy system. Therefore, we focus on the primary 7 chakras that are located along the vertical axis of our spinal column.

The chakras do not have power on themselves; they are like switches that connect to nerve plexuses to different parts of the body, and then, directly to their corresponding parts within the brain. As a result, when a chakra is balanced it will manifest its specific healthy and favorable characteristics in our body, mindset,  behavior and relationships.

First Chakra  – MOOLADHARA – practices will help build financial security, and to provide for basic needs and physical survival. It will stimulate stronger bodies structure, legs and feet, as well as the function of the large intestine, and anus.

“I AM”

Issues: Chronic lower back pain, rectal and immune disorders, sciatica, varicose veins, legs and feet problems. Childhood traumas, hoarding disorders, emotional and personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, sadness, shyness, anorexia, bulimia, addictions.

Second Chakra – SWADHISTANA – practices will balance our sexual drive, joy and creativity as well as to improve blood circulation and function of the genital organs, bladder, and kidneys. Further, it will bring relief to lower back and hip conditions.

Anger, aggressiveness, trust, fear, intimidation, self esteem, self-confidence, self-respect, ambition, courage, ability to handle crisis, care of yourself and others, sensitivity to criticism, arrogance, egotism,  self-center, ambition/ lack of, lethargy, personal power, authority, control, personal honor, fear of rejection and looking foolish, physical appearance anxieties.

Fifth Chakra – VISHUDDHA – practices will improve communication, eloquence, and telepathy. This chakra is responsible for the sense of hearing,  rate of metabolism, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, throat, neck, jaw, teeth and gum conditions.

Issues: Raspy throat, chronic sore throat, mouth ulcers, gum difficulties, TMJ, scoliosis, laryngitis, swollen glands, thyroid problems, deafness,.
Judgement, criticism, cynicism, personal expression, honesty, addiction, inability to communicate owns truth, talking too much or too little, unable to listen to others with empathy, unable to listen to oneself.

High values and virtues, ethics, courage, humanitarianism, selflessness, At this level, one develops Universal awareness of how everything and everyone is energetically connected.

“I UNDERSTAND”

Issues: Spiritual disconnection and skepticism, disconnection with the whole of existence,  extreme sensitivities to light, sound and other environmental factors.
Inability to trust life,  inability to see the big picture, lack of faith, lack of inspiration, lack of spirituality and devotion. On the other hand, a person can experience a sense of “spiritual arrogance” and “spiritual superiority”, and be under the illusion that they are better than the rest.

Understanding our chakras, helps us gain invaluable information about ourselves and our character traits. However, more important than solely understanding,  is to actually DO THE WORK to keep our energy system balanced. This will enable us to live a better life, full of abundance, healthy relationships, creativity, joy, motivation, personal power, success, compassion, love,  faith, and inner peace.
